Polycrystalline Solar Panels

Polycrystalline solar panels are made from similar silicon material hence instead of going through the slow and more expensive process of creating a single crystal, molten silicon is just put into a cast and cooled with a seed crystal. By using the casting method, the crystal surrounding the seed isn’t uniform and branches into many, smaller crystals, thus the term “polycrystalline”. The surface has a jumbled look with many variations of blue colour.  Amerisolar has developed various types of polycrystalline solar modules.
Amerisolar’s polycrystalline solar panels have the full certifications to guarantee you that you only purchase the best solar panels.

The Distinguishing Characteristics of Polycrystalline Solar Panels

In the solar panel industrymonocrystalline solar panels and polycrystalline solar panels are constantly being compared with each other. While monocrystalline solar panels have earned its credible reputation as a more efficient and more durable type of solar panel, as time goes by and as polycrystalline solar panel technologies improve, what becomes apparent are the quality and reliability of the manufacturer as opposed to which of the two technologies is better than the other.

One identifying feature of polycrystalline solar panels is its signature light or dark blue color that does not come together uniformly as some patches appear lighter than the others.
These differences in appearance come as a result of the manufacturing process that the solar cells underwent.

In terms of efficiency, one square meter of polycrystalline solar cells generate about 180 watts. Aesthetics wise, polycrystalline cell colours have darkened significantly over the past years. They are now looking darker blue than what they used to be.
Polycrystalline solar panels have better temperature tolerance although they generally have a lower temperature coefficient. This goes to say that the 1kW polycrystalline array will generate more power over the year than 1kW monocrystalline solar array. A polycrystalline solar cell also usually costs lower than a monocrystalline solar cell. However, when these are both assembled into a solar panel, they have roughly the same costs in terms of $/Watt.
Generally concluding that all monocrystalline solar panels are way better than polycrystalline solar panels is not accurate in the sense that some users attested that polycrystalline solar modules are more efficient that monocrystalline solar modules based from their personal experiences.
In summary, a monocrystalline solar system is slightly smaller than a polycrystalline solar system. However, polycrystalline solar panels will generate more electricity.
Now, with all these said and this comparison laid out, it is solely up to you to decide which type of solar panel to use.
